Topic: Intelligence Squared debate on the Catholic Church

I was wondering if anyone had watched the Intelligence Squared debate on the Catholic Church, specifically "The Catholic Church is a Force for Good in the World".

The link above is a YouTube playlist, just click play-all if you want to watch it.

I thought the debate was very good, a shame the Catholic contingent didn't seek to make their points more forcefully or to address the issues raised by Christopher Hitchens and Stephen Fry instead of simply dismissing them as the usual arguments. Clearly the arguments were resonant with many of the people in the room.

I heard about it but haven't yet watched it. There was another that they held recently about atheism being the new fundamentalism if I recall correctly.

Celebrate not that you are English; nor Scottish nor Welsh, nor any other nation of the world; celebrate instead your common humanity.

I do recommend watching it, it's worth the time. Nothing new about the arguments but still fascinating, IMO.

Well I do think there are fundamentalist atheists but I doubt they represent any danger to us whereas fundamentalists from all religions are definitely dangerous.
