US changes approach to Afghan Opium

The United States is to abandon it's current approach of destroying Afghan opium poppy crops and will instead use the same fund to pay Afghan farmers to grow other crops.

Personally I think this is a sensible decision. The current approach has led to alienation of the farmers and in many cases caused them to embrace the Taleban who, ironically, used to be their enemy.
